There's also the issue that place names change in different languages - so using your examples Londres, Lisboa & Roma. There's also my favourite one Livorno (somehow Leghorn in English), not to mention Bayern Munich. Naturally Paris stubbornly refuses to change its name for *anyone* 🙂
