The library system I retired from had an IT manager who *looooved* all things Microsoft. So we were stuck with those products. 🤢 One of the last things I did before leaving was to make sure the branch makerspace had an iMac for people to use.
also, I'm pretty sure I'm subsidizing the electricity a bit by charging the leaf here so often... like, a bit less than half of my charging fee goes to the makerspace because I am billed so that I can get a flat-rate and charge at any time of the day
since we have a little bit of positive cash flow this year and we've successfully trained the community to live without air conditioning except in extreme heat, the makerspace has turned down the bits of electrical austerity that we do to balance the budget

If you get their spend on the project and it ends up either being astronomical or so cheap that someone is clearly getting exploited. Meanwhile the girl at the local makerspace could do the same thing 10x better + cheaper, but it'd take a week of collaboration, boo fuckin' hoo. Hate this timeline.
