perspective. a mountain closely viewed is naked stone and splattered eagle-dung, it’s airless height and vertical abyss - you need to fight to even near the summit, let alone return unharmed. it’s elemental bone of fractured magma-mantle, dolomite and slate; there’s nothing there that doesn’t fight for raw survival - every ease is blown away. but let a well-fed lounger scan the hovering, attenuated spurs from adequate veranda - bluish mist enfolds an apparition grander than our sordid floodplain congeries; it blurs to paradise, not marmot-bones and schist.
