I really miss the "Cube Life" video from Tiktok that mathtwitter used to share a few years ago. I believe it was during a pre-Musk era.

So I forgot this site existed but discovered (thanks @tienchihmath.bsky.social#MathTwitter that has been lost. I'm no longer teaching mathematics but am now applying it as a data scientist working as a federal contractor

As far as I can tell, there are a couple of former mathtwitter folks at threads who use it almost daily, but they seem to be shouting into a void. I have not deleted my xitter account, I'm leaving it up for posterity. But I'm definitely not going back.

I think I'm going to just deactivate my threads account. I'm spending nearly all my social media time on ma(th)stodon, with a tiny bit here. (The bsky vibe is still a bit off to me.) And it looks what used to be mathtwitter has pretty much ended up here and at mathstodon, not threads.

investing time in a social media instance has been discouraging. there isn't a #mathtwitter equivalent, and the algo sweeps in the dust of bitter melons.
