We feel the struggle as our lab isn't fully functioning yet (we took your place btw 😅) For the microscope it depends: if you have enough personnel that are capable of taking care of da-baby then home made is better. But, if the turnover of inexperienced students is too high I would go for commercial

I feel like this is the microscopy version of catfishing. On the left we have the image with "denoise and smoothing" on the right we have the raw data. As much as I would like my chemoreceptor to look like that, I'm skeptical. STED + expansion microscopy. Image ~400nm not adjusted for expansion

We are re building our live imagine electrophysiology fly microscope (finally) after moving from Oxford to Glasgow. Very exciting. Still deciding whether it will be home built slit scanner or commercial confocal. Your views???
