It's a good thing to be aware of, though, and it's a complicated problem. Rayon/viscose/bamboo (that is, processed cellulose textiles) do release a lot of microfibers. Early information seems to indicate that they biodegrade better than polyester/nylon/acrylic microfibers. Not perfect, but useful.

I've switched to "waterless" car washes because we have strict water restrictions. And as long as you're burning through paper towels or microfibers "lifting" the dirt off rather than scratching it into the paint, it's a decent option for lightly filthy cars. Better for the environment, maybe?

fair! so far ive been insane enough to go out there and just copious detail spray and microfibers to remove the bugs, especially since with ppf im not sure high pressure spray is a good idea anymore 😭

Drying clothes in a dryer can release as much as 3.5 times as many plastic microfibers as washing does. If possible, it’s best to hang clothes and let them air dry.

This is not a necessity but if you have this available in your country it works on glass, floors, everything. We use this, and dish soap + vinegar mixed in a second bottle for hard water stains. The rest of my supplies are a medium duty sponge and scrub brush from the dollar store, + microfibers
