'the country we have now' is one where the white %age of the population - and with it white supremacy's hold on power - is shrinking. sure neoliberalism has fucked the working and middle classes, but apart from occasional lying populist red meat re nafta, elites etc, it's racism all the way down.
And of course it ignores that there's been no daylight between the GOP & Dems in terms of immigration since at least NAFTA. They have never been different, and this person is literally arguing that these parties who have never been different might be different because they're saying the same thing.
