A disaster recovery infrastructure that was in place in 1999 when Hurricane Floyd hit NC was gutted by the NCGA in 2014. That meant that when Hurricane Matthew hit us in 2016, we had to build an infrastructure in the middle of a recovery. #ncpol#NCEM#NCORR#HurricaneHelene

I chair the Housing Recovery Support Function of the NC State Disaster Recovery Taskforce. We meet later this week to coordinate amongst agencies as we begin to plan for longterm recovery. We don't understand the full impact, but recovery will be long. #ncpol#NCEM#NCORR#HurricaneHelene

We are still in active rescue mode in NC after Hurricane Helene. The loss of both cell phone coverage as well as access to most of the roads out West is making rescue efforts particularly difficult. #ncpol#HurricaneHelene#NCEM#NCORR

They're predicting flooding on a scale of the 1916 flooding out in Western NC. I've been texting with friends and colleagues out that way who are already fighting water form the rain earlier this week before the storm even hits. Stay safe out there y'all. #ncpol#NCEM#HurricaneHelene

Going to need to dig out my old Folk Blokes mowhawk for this weekend, Lady Maisery in a lovely old church. I’m yet to see a Rheingans sister in a boring venue. Previously East Riding Theatre (lovely) and York NCEM (lovely).
