Seriously though, take a listen to Pale Communion, and Watershed. The former is Opeth in prog rock configuration, whereas the latter highlights their metal side. Should give you an idea of how palatable they will be for you.

Their foray into 70s prog is a bit more convincing than Opeth where it felt like they just discovered symmetrical scales.

Ich habe nie OPETH Beachtung geschenkt. Die gingen einfach an mir vorbei. Seit neuestem höre ich quer durch die Discographie und bin sehr angetan. Wirklich feine Sachen dabei.

You know, I love heavy metal. I mean there's Arch Enemy, with Angela, who's my favorite vocalist... Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Disturbed, Nightwish, Opeth, a thousand other bands, but I love old rock. Rush is another favorite of mine. Arch Enemy and Rush. <3

it's impossible to pick *one* Opeth song to summarise their whole output but The Drapery Falls has got to be one of my favs. off the album Blackwater Park it's haunting & beautiful & heavy by turns
