Genuinely part of why I read so much was probably because I wasn’t allowed tv as a kid/my tv time was very limited. I don’t think I knew channels other than pbs and maybe a couple more even existed. I also didn’t have a computer until I was 13

The PBS YouTube channel Storied recently did a video on how the majority of US kids have been being taught to read wrong for decades, so that's fun. So lucky I actually got taught phonics, unlike apparently most everyone else my age...

People are so busy. Media criticism and scrutiny are the domain of people with time and energy to spend tweeting. It took me three years of pretty consistent pressure to get my parents to see how centrist/RW PBS had become, and they’re retired. We just don’t wanna believe it’s this bad.
