They're from Pendle (a UK company, but does int. shipping). Specifically, they're the Optima socks.

I do think the period I lived here was the happiest time of my adult life. Inevitably, it was fleeting.

View from an arched passageway: some shops and in the distance a hill - glorious Pendle Hill - beneath cloudy blue skies.

She's so great, haven't read anywhere near as much as i'd like. Her one about the Pendle Witches (one of my aunts by marriage claims descent from one of them and it's as local to me as The Gallows Pole) is stonking. Soooo schlocky but knowingly so, can imagine her writing it, face sardonically

Actually the hike had a much greater effect on me than I expected. Pendle is a big hill with great views and many interesting spiritual connections. I plan to return with my wife soon. This time I'm going to tackle the direct route up the steep steps instead of the longer gentler way I took.

Spent the afternoon walking up Pendle Hill and ooh I'm gasping for a tavern

I've been delving into my second research love, the history of magic and witchcraft, and I can across a reference to an old Pendle saying referring to hag stones of "hollow flint" or small pieces with holes in. Got me thinking about what other magical associations flint has had through the ages...
