you could argue that it was all a pretense and the moment he got power he simply wanted to wield it. it didn't corrupt him, it enabled him. it doesn't make sense to portray him as a "well-meaning extremist" because at least that implies caring enough about a problem to consider it more thoroughly

Another unspoken aspect is…a lot of the conservative criticism was coming from men who have punched walls, in a tantrum. It’s the vulnerability expression they cannot stand, because if it became the expectation, they would have to give up the only proximity to power they understand.
So now it seems I won’t have power back until Monday. Thankfully I work the next couple of days so I just have to survive the nights, and I can have a shower and power during the day. I’ve got a possible alternative for the weekend but I’m checking with friends before implementing it.
