Schnief.

More programmes in the post: my Proms notes (which I'll email if desired rather than fitting into alt text) on the UK premiere of Hans Abrahamsen's Horn Concerto #bbcproms#classicalmusic

Yeah absolutely, it's a consistent strategy of the ruling class to sink opposition by offering a concession that's both ineffective and inconvenient. I.E. respond to calls for an end to systemic racism by censoring Fawlty towers and not playing Rule Britannia at the proms.

Honestly I feel like she missed her calling, but at the same time I know being a professional photographer involves a lot of weddings, proms, bar mitzvahs, etc. and may not be terribly fulfilling.

Four days to go till this years’ proms vanish from BBC sounds. I’ve been listening to some calmer ones while working and the more exuberant ones while not. This one next! www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Hearing Josef Suk’s Asrael Symphony at the Proms (not played there since Libor Pesek, early ‘90s?) set me thinking about this subject of undue neglect. Do we really need to hear a clutch of Bruckner and Mahler symphonies *every* summer? What you say about Mahler advocacy is surely spot on BTW.
