Jean Holzworth (1915-2007) was an American veterinarian known for her work in feline medicine. She was among the first to document a number of disorders affecting cats, including feline infectious peritonitis and hyperthyroidism. She was editor of the well-regarded 1987 book Diseases of the Cat.

A black and white photo of Jean Holzworth, a middleaged white woman, siting and holding a cat in her arms. The cat is stripy, and looking at the camera, maybe with a bit of distrust to the photographer. The doctor is looking at the cat with an expression of care.

I read a CT report last night where one sentence in the conclusion just said "Beware peritonitis", and that's the kind of slightly gothic vibe I need more of in medicine

Yeah, sure, the bullet is the problem. He's lost a lot of blood and by this point he's probably got peritonitis. But you go on pretending, Sam. #SplitSecond#NoirAlley

i've heard of surgeons leaving actual surgical implements in people's bodies - not just sponges but like clamps, scalpels, all kinds of things also heard of a woman who died after getting an abortion because the doctor literally perforated her uterus and caused peritonitis
