I wanna preface this with no one has said she's in remission, but Squeaks has been on a "chemo vacation" since her last dose on July 9th; at her recheck appointment this week they said all her lesions are stable and there's no new ones! And we're going to taper down her prednisolone dose!

anyway. off my soap box. we're restarting his prednisolone tonight and we've arranged an appointment with a different vet next week. i'm still mad. but he's fine, we're fine, everything is FINE.

she was very apologetic, but also stated he's been in and out of the shelter "a lot" because of this condition. important side note, prednisolone shouldn't be discontinued for cats without weaning. this can be fatal. biggs could have DIED because they neglected to tell me and give me his meds.

i left work, went to the shelter, and asked to speak with their vet. she informed me that rodent ulcer is a chronic autoimmune condition, and that he'll need prednisolone treatment whenever he has a flare. she stated i should have been informed of this at adoption, but they were "changing systems."

no, in fact. i got a call from the shelter today. "you need to pick up biggs' medication," say they. "what the fuck are you talking about?" ask i. apparently he'd been in the middle of a prednisolone course when i adopted him, and they neglected to mention this -- or what is was for.

I have a hankering for some Darrell Lea black licorice. I know black licorice doesn't taste good to everyone, but I love it. And even though I finished prednisolone a few days ago, I'm still super hungry for very specific things.

Thank you 💜 It really sucks. At least this time I qualify for a free vax (asthma alone doesn't count but having 2 x prednisolone courses within 24 months does). My Hubby's got to get his privately despite his underlying conditions. April '24 was the first time we could even buy them privately here 😭

Policing food intake drives me nuts too. I have to because of the prednisolone + Celebrex. Plus diabetes is a common comorbidity of PsA, so far I've avoided it, hope to stay that way.

Thanks, Roseanne. When the core med doesn't wotk, the mornings are horrid. I upped the prednisolone this morning and will take my pain meds a bit later tonight, see if that helps.
