Yes. Netherlands here. My midwife was convinced I just had first time pregnancy jitters and heavily resisted my pregnancy being ‘medicalised’. Spoiler alert: I had class 1 HELLP and severe preeclampsia presenting atypically. My baby died and I almost died. Testing might have saved both of us.
It should be part of a broader discussion on healthcare in general. Pregnancy is dangerous and bad outcomes for child and mother are always possible. A NICU stay for baby or a hospital stay for preeclampsia for mom shouldn’t result in tens or hundreds of thousands in hospital bills.
