python and lua are literally just pseudocode that you can compile lol
whenever I try to write pseudocode to illustrate what I'm saying to someone it comes out as valid python. oh well
That makes sense. I was thinking of something more like a generic programming question but I see that the question doesn't require the part where you iterate through x and y, only what to do for any x and y. You might find this interesting: 4 ways to draw checkboards in psuedocode.
The pseudocode-first approach also has the topically relevant side effect of making it much easier to bring in an LLM to write the code you need for/with you.
