Why did sauropods have such small heads? It’s to tied how they fed. Sauropods didn’t chew. They just horfed vegetation as fast as possible, their guts breaking down the volumes of veg. A tiny head with continually-replaced teeth did the job, and also allowed long necks to evolve. 🧪

Good morning, these are the years each of the Field Museum's fossil mounts were first displayed. You'll notice that they were cranking out Cenozoic and Permian guys in the early to mid 20th century, and dinosaurs only became a focus in the 90s. 🧪
