And the issue with this, for me, is one of intent. Square's decade long search for the ellusive "western kid" and "what it wants to play", hurts the franchise time and time again. They don't do what they were always great at, and also they don't deliver what they think "said kid" wants.

Terraria is such an example of this too!! I am obviously one of the players who search for challenges in anything(currently on max difficulty). However each one will have a different way to beat the game Whether it's "features" like ladder runs or lowering the difficulty. Each way is acceptable!
