Kind reminder that #shrinkingspace is not a phenomenon restricted to authoritarian regimes. If we credibly want to to support civil society abroad we should take such restrictions of civic space at home very seriously.
The new CIVICUS Monitor has been released. Among many interesting trends, significantly, Germany's rating on freedom of civic spaces has been downgraded to "restricted", mainly bec of its crackdown on climate activism and restriction of pro-Palestinian protest. Press release:
