The fact that Europeans are expanding their Air-Rail links (as well as SkyTeam with Eurostar), means that the excuses are just thin for not having an carriage agreement. Who knows. 72 passengers a flight could really make the business case tempting for an extra service.

Checking in to flights with codeshare connections works maybe 20% of the time on SkyTeam airlines.

It's the one thing I hate about SAS joining SkyTeam, the absolute weakest alliance, in part because Delta sucks so much.
