I keep thinking of all the roles Gavin Creel would have gotten if he hadn't gotten sick. The roles he could have originated. So much beautiful theater. At the same time, I'm so glad he got that part in Hello Dolly. He won a Tony, got to have a scene stealing part in an all-star Sondheim revival.

"What did Batman do in Kathmandu?" Ooh, what a rhyme! Eat your heart out, Stephen Sondheim!

The first live stage musical that stuck. I was about 7 and it was Sondheim in the West End. He’s been a favorite for my whole life. (My Mother HATED it. ). 😜

(That humumumumable line is one of my favorites because I can picture a vengeful Sondheim writing it to tweak all his critics)

Soon the room began to fill up, and a nice lady popped the Sondheim cherry by requesting "By the Sea" from Sweeney Todd. More friends soon arrived & made it amazing. And we had a number of singers who wowed us with their talents. Sadly, Bryon was not feeling well so stayed home - but is on the mend!

Stephen Sondheim wrote that song and I am reasonably sure it was Judy Collins who sang it. (I'm old, I know a few things.)
