I think its still materialist because these cultural factors are driven by materialist incentives media/manufacturers/oilgas companies/dealership owners. Nobody asked about range or high performance trucks until motivated interests pushed that in culture. (Why we have trucks not suvs/stationwagons)

They didn’t do a formal protocol analysis otherwise they would have seen the flaw of pigeon packet exhaustion. You’ve got to get pigeons back to the start by other means: stationwagons.

I should acknowledge we drive an SUV (bought when our twins were babies mindful of challenges of getting pram/babyseats etc into a lower-riding vehicle). But the loss of stationwagons makes choices very limited now we don't have that constraint (but still need to move a lot of stuff around)...
