You're right. Accent mark" can be synonymous with "diacritic," but in this case it's just too lazy on the part of the writer, who whiffed on a teachable moment. I prefer "accent mark" for acute and grave diacritics (Hélène), circumflex (côte) or diacritics that distinguish forms (resume/résumé).
The ridiculous thing is that even if you DO believe that republicans brought it on themselves, there’s at least 1 in 3 people in these places that aren’t like that. Even disregarding that, this could be a teachable moment about why right wing ideology is wrong.

There are SaSS options like teachable which take care of access and payments and are really easy to use and mean you don’t have to spend time installing, configuring and applying security updates etc
bullet hells are misrepresented to the public as being about dodging tons of stuff all the time, being very flighty, reacting to everything constantly. in reality, they're much more meditative, built over a very teachable, very learnable set of concepts to mitigate reaction. bullet density is art

1/2 The modern media era has led too many down a primrose path: information will be spoon-fed to you; anything not 'spoon-able' is then suspect, maybe "fake!". The implication being that expertise- work experience, that can't be spooned and is barely teachable in classes- is no expertise at all.
