Caught up with a neighbour I hadn’t seen for some time. Lovely protea and Waratah in his garden in flower.
Maybe a tree waratah? Alloxylon flammeum. It would be appropriate for Auckland, as it was previously called Oreocallis wickhamii.
Finally had some outside weather overlap with a day off. Mowed, cleared gutters, fixed our gate. Very tired, but our Waratah is going gang busters this year, so that’s nice.
PLANTED OUT. In the process I have become compost buddies with the next-door-neighbour who till now had stalwartly blanked us, but as of today we have a pact to alternate compost bins & when we switch to mine he will give me some of his as a “starter”.
Final dam. A beautiful snake, some vibrant Waratah, more great architecture, and a loud release of water
