Clr Bresciani is doing this on the floor of council against the best advice of city administration and in defiance of years of public consultation. And Councillor Lori Bresciani is running for mayor. /7 #yqrcc

Bresciani is basically saying, throw years of planning, consultation and fundraising on the fire and cross your fingers that a few years from now, we can find a more better deal. /6 #yqrcc

Bresciani seems be basing her plan on a promise of "regional funding" — ie, that either the province will kick in more or that bedroom communities will contribute (a thing they have NEVER done). But there ARE NO REGIONAL DOLLARS beyond Clr Bresciani's "firm belief." /4 #yqrcc

Bresciani's plan leaves the core of the city — especially North Central — underserved by aquatic facilities in exchange for the *promise* of a fancy pool in the suburbs — very possibly in her ward. /3 #yqrcc

Bresciani is pitching this pool plan b/c she claims to be a "fiscal hawk". Problem is, this plan puts federal funding in danger, means another year or more of planning which means more construction inflation. This plan only seems sensible if you aren't paying attention. /2 #yqrcc
