Similar to how Trump-Vance invoked the threat of immigrant violence against white Americans, Chinese were also stereotyped as violent and sexual predators — the so-called “Yellow Peril” — who posed threats to white lives and white women’s chastity.

Late 19th century political cartoon with racist depiction of Chinese as violent.

I wish Americans could internalize the idea that people other than America have agency and decide to go to war for cases of real or perceived national interest rather than everyone being a reflection of the policy of America's president. Other states have agency! American influence has limits!

I have been far more careful than most and havn't to my knowledge had Covid, but I have a hard time squaring the 22 million number (1 in 15 americans) with the fact that I only know 1 person with long covid IRL. It's been life changing for him, but it seems if 1/15 is real I should know more.

The biggest thing standing between Americans and the freedom to live a good life is donald trump.

Weird it calls it "grade 11" too. We say "grade 11" in Canada but I know Americans say "11th grade" bc they ALWAYS point it out. And no, we don't do grade 11 at 20 here. 😹

Maybe they should? Maybe they should do the whole thing about looking up, paying attention, etc. Maybe Americans need to stop party bickering and help each other for a change. 100 people are dead, hundreds are missing. Bring the tragedy home.

The NIH estimates that close to half of Americans suffer from some level of mental insanity So the current situation is not surprising. 😪😪

From time to time, I see native-born Americans who think they are helping say things like, "Stop saying immigration is good/immigrants are hardworking, let's celebrate lazy immigrants for human rights." Dear natives: stop. Immigrants read you and are disgusted by how you can't see us positively.
