A two page ad from 2001 for Anachronox, an RPG for PCs by Ion Storm featuring one of its key characters, the mercenary, Stiletto Anyway Its sci-fi fantasy was inspired by a wide variety of sources that included books like Frederik Pohl's Gateway to RPGs such as Wizardry and ended on a cliffhanger.

Anachronox had a number of different ads. One of those featured the main protagonist, Sly Boots. This one features one of his potential party buddies, Stiletto Anyway. This page had several screenshots from the game which was built with a heavily modified version of id's Quake II engine. Some of the text reads "Battle across six planets. Uncover devious secrets. Play some Pooper." The title for the game appeared below with the subheading "Pick Your Poison".
Stiletto features on this page with text that reads "We all have scars. Not all of them are physical." hinting at the game's focus on resolving each character's inner demons during the adventure. Other text at the top of the page described her role as someone that "used to live on Anachronox" and "left behind a lot of history and no future" as she joins "Seven characters. Seven pasts they want to leave behind. And once chance at redemption. You." Rated "T" for "Teen"!

A two page ad from 2001 for Anachronox, an RPG for PCs by Ion Storm featuring main character, Sly Boots It drew design inspiration from Japanese RPGs such as Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy with its turn-based, "active time battle" mechanics alongside an ambitious scope and cliffhanger ending.

"Sometimes, the most deadly poison is your past" The page shows the face of Sly Boots, the main character who acts as a down-and-out detective in the game working on the world of Anachronox. It also has a description of the setting that reads "It is the future. A galactic civilization has been born through the blood and toll of trillions. Sly's just looking to make a quick buck before the guy he owes money to starts collecting fingers."
The second page shows a number of screenshots from the game which used a heavily modified version of id's Quake II engine. On the right hand side is some text that reads "Introducing Anachronox. It's 3D epic, sci-fi role-playing with seven unique characters. Experience amazing cinematics. Travel across six planets and 100 levels. Master modular weaponry. Solve devious puzzles. Unravel evil galactic schemes. It's your turn. Explore worlds. Fight battles. Do the Man-Dance." It was "rating pending" in this ad prior to release but ultimately received a "T" for "Teen". Unfortunately, the game (which ended on a cliffhanger) was also the last that Ion Storm's offices in Dallas would produce closing only a few weeks after its release leaving only Ion Storm Austin.
