The aspens are turning in the Sierra Nevada mountain range too, this was at about 6,000 ft.

A branch from an aspen tree, the leaves a golden yellow, in the background are green leaves that haven’t turned yet.

Photos from yesterday’s mountain adventure.

Two dead gray felled trees are partially on shore and partially in a lake. The short is dirt and rocks, and green conifers stand around the shore amidst yellow grass and orange ground cover. The sky is stormy and smoky
A dark blue lake with green pine trees on the shore, and bare gray rocky mountains behind the trees. The sky is blue with some white clouds and a little smoke
Mountains with green pine trees and yellow aspens on either side of a road. Dark clouds and orange smoke mix in the sky. A small peek of blue sky is in the middle right hand side of the picture
Rocks and evergreen trees line the shore of a lake. There are gray mountains, a blue sky, and fluffy white clouds in the background.

Went for a hike the other day and, welp — I guess Autumn has arrived.

A landscape photo: in the foreground, quaking aspens are turning yellow. In the middle background, a fire-scarred hillside glows ochre with undergrowth in autumn colors, while Pikes peak looms over all in the distance, a few white streaks of snow gracing its north face.

Good Morning, my friend. Sure does look like they are growing their winter coat. Our Aspens have started to turn. Fall is definitely in the air. Happy Day, my friend!

Was on a hike to see aspens and petrified redwood forest today at 8,500’ altitude. This photo isn’t color corrected, it’s just how blue the sky is. 🌸

Alpine meadow of golden grass and brush that used to be a petrified wood forest before it became an ancient lake full of fossils. Beyond it are mountains, banks of clouds, and an almost navy blue sky.

Florissant Fossil Beds National Park, Colorado.

The aspens were beautiful today, too- I’d say next weekend will be peak around Pike’s Peak. I’m hoping to find a few for a friend from TX who has never seen Fall in person, but I guess we might have to lean southwest to find them by the 10th.

this was a last minute decision and so we started too late to get as high up the mountain as we wanted to (forgot to factor in just how long it takes to drive up a 10,000 ft mountain on a forest service dirt road lol) BUT we got some sweet views anyway and a nice short hike

forest and mountains, with some pine trees in the foreground and distant golden aspens on the hillside in the background

view from the mountain looking down and east towards the rio grande valley and beyond way far away
