The original version of Simulacra I came up with back in college was a lot different, but kept the same cast. It was a Hellboy/FMA influenced story about agents tasked with tracking and containing supernatural disasters in an atompunk flavored United States
The other part of it that confuses me is how starkly water polo (a middle-upper-class to upper-class sport due to the requirements in skill, space) contrasts with the grungy almost atompunk set, lighting, design, storylines, etc. The show is roughing-it hard, id expect a decathlete, diver, or hiker
