My Blackcountry accent rarely surfaces, but I did pronounce this as “Yow valley” the other day and my wife looked unsure whether to laugh or cry. (Cue my usual complaint that people with regional accents who like to complain about prejudice very often still see Brummie as fair game for insults 🤨)
