Eh, new audiences, gotta bang the boundary hammer from time to time.

The use of, like, crossing a boundary to enter their inner monologue zones is so great, we've never really seen inner monologues being used as effectively as this series, much less doing it as funny as this season has. Absolutely I'm love with it.

Bluesky seems cool 👀 I’m Kita, a trans illustrator! I like to draw fantasy, pin-ups, and florals. Been experimenting with woodburning, too. 🔥

A modern interpretation of Sandro Botticelli’s Birth of Venus (1485).

The main subject is a sunkissed & blonde nonbinary person winking at the viewer, and they are wearing a white bikini that shows off their top scars. They are riding the incoming waves with watermelon-patterned doughnut floaty around their middle. They’re leisurely holding an open bottle of ramune - the glass bead inside the bottle is replaced by a pearl.

The background features a polarized photo of a large body of water and a treeline, hung together with drawn seagulls and an orange sun. Below the subject’s floaty shows their legs in the water, surrounded by seafoam and jellyfish.

The entire piece is framed on either side with gold filligre in the shape of more waves, and mermaids. Each mermaid is holding a pearl.
A piece showcasing themes of resurrection and rebirth.

A figure is seen from their shoulders up, with their hands raised in front of them. They have small, pointed ears, freckles, eyebags, and a crooked smile. They have a silver septum piercing in the shape of a stylized heart. Above them sits an exploding, pointy halo.

Covering their left eye is a box depicting the growth of a sprig of Lily of the Valley, which peeks outside the boundary of this box in some places. The plant is covered in drops of dew, and the tiny, bell-shaped flowers are numerous.

Below the box and just under one of these flowers drips the subject’s tears, as if they are hiding their pain behind the box. However, one of their hands is pointing at their uncovered right eye, which is bright and without tears.

From their neck downwards, blood veins in red and blue travel down and eventually meet with the flowers’ root system. They tangle together, capturing the subject’s hands and framing them on either side with additional flowers.

Towards the bottom, the tangles form a stylized ribcage, which conceals the subject’s beating heart.
A simple illustration of a harpy person.

They are facing to the left with an exasperated expression, right hand lifted and flicking off a fiery spell. They are crouched, bent at the knees, with a bird-like tail tucked between their two webbed talons.

The harpy is wearing round glasses, and they peer at the viewer with a sharp, red eye. Their ears are long and pointed, decorated with a simple drop earring. Their hair is platinum blonde, going more grey at the root. Their outfit is a mix of dark greys and magentas, and is decorated at the vest with a branch of apple blossoms.

The harpy only has one wing, which is pure white at the base and growing darker towards the tips.
A group photo of six adventurers from the MMO World of Warcraft, squished together to stay in frame. A staircase and foliage from Valdrakken decorate the background behind them.

Each adventurer is distinct, showing off their various armor and weapons. Each is smiling at the invisible camera.

From left to right (approximately): Lumie (Night Elf Druid), Seraphius (Lightforged Paladin), Zantis (Void Elf Hunter), Sana (Night Elf Priest), Apolakia (Pandaren Death Knight), and Winds (Human Hunter)

Sydenham Hill, Lewisham/Southwark boundary, London 📷

Image shows an urban street descending a hill. There are a handful cars on the road, which is shaded by a large tree protruding from the left of the photo. There are trees on both sides of the street, boasting leaves in a variety of greens, gold and red. To the right of a bend in the road, the top half of a brick tower block stands tall above the trees. On the horizon, we see distant city skyscrapers. The sky is bright blue, with no clouds in sight.

Work is underway on my most substantial writing project for a wee while. Its working title is ‘Capture Spiral’. Building on my earlier essays produced for Undefined Boundary journal, it will be an autoethnographic journey through a ten year period of my youth, specifically 1973 to 1983.

I think its the same way pressing a button feels better than simulated touchscreen buttons a lot of tech uses now. That tangible feedback made everything feel a more real, smart technology instead tries to create as big of a boundary between the tech and user as possible to make it more accessible.

If testing your UI is hard, you may want to look at your architecture. I isolate the UI from the rest of the system with a hard boundary. There is no business logic in the UI, and all communication between the UI and the back end is either through event-style messaging or a well-defined API. 1/2
