The David Brooks reference is a gem. Seriously, the metrics academics use to gauge the health of the economy are all but irrelevant to people at the low end of the economic scale. Wages never keep up with inflation. Forget groceries: try finding an affordable place to rent, let alone buy.
For the saddle, I'm using a lovely leather BIM saddle, made in France by Ideale. I have an Ideale on my Pug and it's very comfortable. I gave this one a fresh treatment of Proofhide. Ideale has a long history and I believe their saddles predate Brooks.
Earlier in the call though my friends were all laughing at my bed but it was also funny because before that Alex was like no...I don't want to say what Ru sleeps on it could be mean if he doesn't want it exposed But then Brooks was just like oh yeah he sleeps on a carpet on the floor 😭
