Wait, like all cancers?
That seems plausible but if so why don't they mention that in the article instead of wanging on about women who might be changing partners? And if it protects against other cancers (I did not know that!) then why don't women who _aren't_ changing partners need it?
are the proteins in ovarian cancer really that unique from other cancers? could this same approach be used for other types of cancers? how does the vaccine get the immune system to recognize those proteins as harmful?
A nurse I knew started doing hospice care back in the '70s, and she swore someday researchers would find links between viruses and many cancers (excluding those from behaviors like smoking), because in her experience, the disease was just too random to be all down to genetic defects/predispositions.
The world's first vaccine for ovarian cancer, which teaches the immune system to recognise and attack the earliest stages of ovarian cancer, is being developed in the UK. It is hoped the vaccine (named OvarianVax) could wipe out the disease. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

(part of the thing is that "cure for cancer" isn't actually a thing because there are many different types of cancers, but the fact that we can and ARE developing vaccines for specific cancers is really amazing.)
This is huge. Ovarian is one of those scary cancers that can be very advanced before you have symptoms.

In the US, we succumbed to pressure from "conservatives" so the vaccine is not mandatory. Our uptake is barely 60% which means 4 out of every 10 young women (and men) are still vulnerable to a slew of deadly cancers.
"[Scotland] has detected no cases of cervical cancer in women born between 1988-1996 who were fully vaccinated against HPV between the ages of 12 and 13." That's honestly so amazing.
In a large Scottish study, no cases of cervical cancer were found among women who received HPV vaccines before they turned 14.
Adopt these 4 healthy habits to lower cancer risk! Behavioral factors cause up to half of all cancers, making prevention achievable. https://buff.ly/47P2FnI
