Four Australian magpies just came down to the feeding zone to drink some water and were carolling, so I took out some food. Which they ignored. Because there are SO MANY CICADAS to eat. They couldn’t be bothered walking even one metre to grab the food. Cicadas started their din at 7am this morning.Four Australian magpies just came down to the feeding zone to drink some water and were carolling, so I took out some food. Which they ignored. This is something really disappointing about the Green Party, as well. That thing about them being cicadas who pop up every four years to function solely as spoilers in the service of conservatives is largely accurate and fair as a criticism. But there's a lot they could do between elections.

Creepy! Uncanny! Surreal! Weird nature! That's where my creative heart is, and that's why I wanna see yours in a similar vein too.

Digital art of the face of a Regal Horned Lizard, a reptile covered in spikes pointing outward like sunbeams. Around its eye are abstract red lines representing the blood this reptile can shoot from its eyes to scare off predators. Text above and below the face reads "safe at any cost."
Illustration of a white bat on a red background. The bottom half of the bat is covered in white lace, and the lace is actively being woven from four bobbins with moth wings under the bat.
Art of a cicada turning into a skull from its middle down, spreading waves of colors as it cracks into pieces. Beneath it is a coffin's silhouette resting atop the color drips, drooping leaves, and two molting cicadas on either side.
Digital painting of a pink, see-through humanoid creature with skull and bones visible through the flesh, flying over a background of red roses. It has butterfly wings made of an old, crumpled love letter on its back and is wearing another one wrapped around its middle as clothing, held in place with a red, translucent heart sticker. A swirl of magic sparkles around its legs and its pose is carefree.

The HVAC in the office sounds like a washing machine full of angry cicadas. Even with my bulky headphones I'm stimming like crazy to avoid jumping out a window.

Thanks. Got the ebook so that I can learn wasps on the go. Cicadas are next. Because that green one just left of center on your book cover looks like Chinese carved jade.

Yes we have an annual cicada here, not the cyclical hatch. And saw it under a tree with cicadas singing in it in August. Still surprised I'd never seen one before.

Thx Alie, learnt a ton from this single thread about Cicadas and Wasps than my whole lifetime. Keep up the good work.
