For my Jesus Junkyard column this week, I wrote about a pretty big staple of '90s youth group culture. #dctalk#jesusfreak#ccm#christianmusicchrisicisms.substack.com/p/jesus-frea...
Was it also a problem?
huh. Destroy Erase Improve came out in 1995?! ok, that's prob my runner up. I didn't discover it until nearly a decade later. Thanks Peyton. I also considered dcTalk or Jars of Clay as a bit, but I don't think I'm ready to commit to that.
Oh I remember this list. How about DCTalk, who everyone acted like was Christian Nirvana but really they were either Christian Beastie Boys or Christian U2
my review of HELL IS A WORLD WITHOUT YOU, @jasonkirk.fyi's very funny novel that holds up a mirror to 2000s youth group kids with unsparing but tender accuracy. it's either a very mean love letter or a very loving mean letter to the world of veggie tales, dctalk and true love waits. i loved it.
1 TIMOTHY 4:12!!! GOD WANTS YOU TO READ @jasonkirk.fyi'S BOOK!!!!! (AND @tylerhuckabee.bsky.social'S REVIEW OF IT FOR @sojo.net!!!!) sojo.net/articles/hel...
Jason Kirk’s new novel captures the faith and doubt and ego and shame and loneliness and horniness that came with growing up in post-9/11 evangelicalism.
Wait, you’re not down wit’da DCTalk? God is doin’ a Nu Thang! Luv is a Verb!
