Housing came by today with no notice to change the lock on the door to our deck. At least it was the very sweet maintenance man. They were just going to turn our deadbolt around so it could only be unlocked from our 2nd floor deck, but after I told him about the neighborhood happenings...
I love to deadbolt a door. I stay deadbolting.
My front door deadbolt broke at 10:00 last night and wouldn't lock from the outside, so I worked from home today. My handyman* just fixed it and said, "You could have gone out the back door, you know?" Yes, but then I would've had to go to the office. *dad
Ornate oversized double door entrances are wonderful when a 90MPH wind isn't pushing rain literally through them and trying to tear out the deadbolt and locking pins. The fire table from the patio and a weight from the gym are doing double duty.

Yep- once I was able to get in, I not only undid the deadbolt but also reset the stupid little minibreaker in the outlet that it turns out was causing the whole mess
How securely is the deadbolt and its catch installed? Generally, I’d advocate for the window, but not if you can’t fit.
