That took a very old law (the ePrivacy Directive of 2002 + amendments) and many, many court and regulatory decisions to get there, and it's still not consistent. But it is so much better to just reject all!
Would be great to also nail the fallacy that "legitimate interest" is a basis for setting cookies under the ePrivacy Directive.
I see people sneering at this. I am a lawyer. I write for a living, whether it is contracts or documentation or legal analyses. Bar none, the hardest thing I ever have to write is "a short bio" or "a brief introduction." I would rather write a twenty page paper about ePrivacy than introduce myself
