“Super Computer” (instead of supercomputer) “One Exaflop” (instead of one exaflops) “HPC vs Cloud” (cf. eat a meal vs go to a restaurant) The list could go on … #hpc#supercomputer#exaflops#cloud (image screen grab from another place)

no worries - I just didn't want you to get stuck in my rabbit hole! once I get to writing my piece I can just airily say exaflops and many times times more powerful than exaflops and not have to get into 100 trillion trillion at all. and now I need a GIF of Eddie Izzard saying in a field of exabytes

So Elon Musk is building the world's biggest support computer, because of course he is... Reading about it and apparently it will have: 2.5 exaflops Aka it can calculate 2.5 quintillion floating points per second. Has my 6yo been out in charge of naming shit here? WTAF does that mean?

Computers are only better at processing numbers. Human brains have to operate on non-mathematical inputs. The computer equivalent is exaflops of operations, something super computers can't do today.

Let's then consider the training time. Humans, with those exaflops of computation take YEARS to train. Literally all of childhood, and some of what we call adulthood, is just the basic training of how to human.

There is no roadmap from gAI to AGI. Experts think the human brain is capable of doing exaflops worth of computation. We do not have that capability anywhere in a computer.

poindexters really going "with our new algorithm and 17 exaflops of computational capacity, our plagiarism machine can now reliably output 17.63 kiloshakespeares per gigawatt"
