Welcome to this session! Introduce yourself in the chat by sharing your name, department, and one word that comes to mind when you think of a sandbox.
A Padlet Sandbox card. The card has a grid with 12 boxes, which are labeled as follows:

1. Use the Text tool to type your first name below.

2. Add a sticky note that lists the name of your department.

3. Draw: Use the Pen tool to draw a picture of one of your favorite hobbies.

4. Draw: Use the Highlighter tool to draw three squiggly lines.

5. Draw: Use the Eraser tool to erase one of the squiggly lines in box 4.

6. Use the Shapes tool to add a yellow star below. (Bonus points for adding a yellow fill, too!)

7. Use the Upload tool to upload a non-confidential image or file from your computer.

8. Attachments: Add a link to the website of one of your favorite edtech tools.

9. Attachments: Add a YouTube video.

10. Attachments: Add a GIF that captures how you feel about Padlet Sandbox.

11. Attachments: Add another attachment of your choice below.

12. Use the Laser Pointer tool to point out which box you enjoyed working on most.

oh, the other thing I forgot to mention is how this policing of student reading behaviors feels very close to the policing of neurodivergent students' attention and behavior like y'all there are many ways of knowing, being, learning, expressing! #HigherEd#AcademicSky#FacDev

Next, I reject the framing of "Students aren't reading." I'm not rejecting that we're seeing shifts in reading, but I reject the framing. Why not this frame: "#HigherEd isn't adapting to societal shifts and fails to meet this moment in human history"? #HigherEd#FacDev#AcademicSky
