It's really unfortunate that the timeline for good tech development is long & runways so short. Mozilla's FirefoxOS with more time & the march of hw would have been amazing esp with Moz's standards push. Google's halfhearted #ProjectFugu isn't really embodied like FOS.

firefoxos wasn’t centered around ffox, just the brand + a choice to make HTML/javascript/web the prime developer framework instead of Java/ObjC. But (among other problems) turns out that framework has a lot of rough edges for that use case. And has zero compelling features for switchers.
