William Elliott Whitmore put on an amazing show tonight! As you can see, we were practically sitting on the stage. Mr Whitmore took my song request and shook both my and my husband's hands after the show. Hope we get to see him play again soon!

Folksinger William Elliott Whitmore on stage about 6 feet from us. He's adjusting the microphone with an acoustic guitar balanced on his thigh. A bass drum is in front of him and part of his name is visible on it. He's dressed in black pants, black T-shirt, and a brown hat. He's got a salt and pepper beard and his arms and hands are heavily tattooed. My husband's clapping hands are visible in the lower right corner of the picture.

I feel obligated to say that Utah was a folksinger, not country. But this potential country music you mention...do tell!

September 11, 1973 Chile's armed forces staged a coup d'etat against the government of President Salvador Allende, the first democratically elected socialist head of state in Latin America. For album tracks, Allan Sherman's single-free My Son, The Folksinger is a treasure trove. Giving you links to my two favorites here, 'cause he did later inferior re-recordings and YT doesn't distinguish between them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXMP...www.youtube.com/watch?v=napE...

Not ashamed - she was a great presenter in her day & a fine folksinger - although tbh I spent quite a long time looking for a picture that would *really* show what she looked like (i.e. how stunningly attractive she was to me aged 10-11). Without success, I'm afraid.

My favorite musician of all time is Canadian folksinger Stan Rogers. So I started a little passion project to illustrate his song THE MARY ELLEN CARTER as a children’s picture book. Any editors out there interested in promoting folk music &/or Canadian folkways? Hit me up!

A fishing ship in a terrible storm.
Text: She went down last October in a pouring driving rain.
The skipper, he’d been drinking and the Mate, he felt no pain.
Too close to Three Mile Rock, and she was dealt her mortal blow,
And the Mary Ellen Carter settled low.
Left page: two men desperately trying to patch a leak inside the ship. Two other men shouting to each other.
Text: There were just us five aboard her when she finally was awash.
We’d worked like heck to save her, all heedless of the cost.
Right page: ship has sunk. Five men in life raft watching in various stages of heartbreak.
Text: And the groan she gave as she went down, it caused us to proclaim
That the Mary Ellen Carter would rise again.
