Wasn’t she just as unpleasant as we’d come to expect? Saying Johnson was a great PM & then insulting the audience when they didn’t agree with her by saying they were ‘fixed’. Hislop rightly annoyed ‘No, we’re not GBNews!’ But then, Jenkyns usually insults the public when they don’t agree with her.

Andrea Jenkyns on #HIGNFY did nothing to dispel her reputation for unpleasantness. When she declared that Boris Johnson was the best PM we’d ever had she expected applause, when she received jeers & laughter she accused the programme of ‘fixing’ the audience. Hislop countered ‘No, this isn’t GBNews!

Same happened in the U.K. Our newspapers were always largely cr*p but things got even worse with the Tory take-over of the upper echelons of the BBC and the creation of the execrable GBNews. No surprise the U.K. ranked 33rd in the world for press trustworthiness in 2021 and now has sunk even lower.

I lit a candle in 2022 upon the death of American professional journalism. Pockets of it still practiced in 2023, but the oligarchs hunted them down like frightened deer & killed them. To be clear, non-professionals are still practicing high standards of pro-journalism. I support as many as I can.
