Hahah, I feel that. It’s hard learning when it was never a thing to you natively (the only other languages I speak is English/Japanese, so I got spared gendered articles other than my mother tongue). And most germans honestly never expect any tourists to speak it, so even trying makes us love u :’D

Me over here who still routinely gets called She by his Chinese mother because Cantonese doesn't have gendered pronouns let alone articles 😅 I did make an effort to learn some German when I visited München - it felt like the polite and respectful thing to do, and also learning is fun!

it's only acceptable when it's actually the person's pronoun or if you don't know the pronouns of the person you're talking about. in neither case would you mix in gendered pronouns.

She has misgendered me intentionally no fewer than five times, and her friends have justified the same under the premise of me being "transmisogynist" and apparently not deserving to be gendered correctly because reasons when I didn't have to be given her pronouns in a reply to use them.
