Seriously weird. Could have been a scary mean dog went by earlier and left a scary trail? Or maybe dogs & cats do sense quantum anomalies and are saying uh-uh to any ghostly passages. ?

Reading this, a passage that has stuck with me since. An example of a perfect paragraph, one that explains a familiar concept in a unique way, paints a beautiful picture, gives insight into a character who thinks about things in a way I can relate to, and makes gratuitous use of commas. Perfection.
