The typography looks like 1930s. It's adjacent to a ghostsign for W Wood & Son which is now largely concealed behind a fire escape sign.
We often use Scotgate car park in Stamford but I’ve never noticed this puzzling Ghost Sign before. Turns out it’s a rear entrance to The Scotgate, a former Phipps Brewery Coaching Inn on the old Great North Road, now offices but the Phipps name can still be seen on the roof parapet. #GhostSign
In all seriousness been waiting about 3 years to take a picture of this wall without it being obscured by a parked car.
