I didn't really get him until I read he preserved parts of the setting of the Gorkamorka miniature game in his collection which made me very nostalgic. He's just a huge Warhammer nerd inside the Warhammer universe which is why the fans love him so much.
Lots of games have a big casual vs hardcore divide - Magic, Smash Bros, Warhammer 40K, whatever. But few games have a hardcore who can as passionately (and perhaps accurately) argue they are the reason the game stayed relevant and didn't become Man'o'War, Dark Future or Gorkamorka
