Common Lizard, Picromerus bidens & a weevil, all seen yesterday at Ynyslas on the Dyfi estuary. All destined for #iRecord the weevil might not make it if I cannot get an ID that seems reasonable thinking maybe Sitona lineatus at present.

Time to catch up on iRecord/Naturespot verification - shouldn't take long after the week we've had! Background listening today is 'The Queen is Dead' by The Smiths, back when they were great and before Morrissey was a complete 🛎🔚. 1985 vinyl release, cat. ROUGH96.

A quick glance at iRecord shows Middlesbrough as the most northerly record on that site.

Good time of year to stare at stems to find the black Ophiomyia puparia. Look for lighter strips on darkened stems and the puparia will be at the end of the strip. O aquilegiana on Aquilegia and O heringi on Sonchus in the garden today. If found please pop on iRecord for @agrorecscheme.bsky.social

I usually catch up with iRecord/Naturespot moth record verification at the weekends with some vinyl playing in the background. This morning I'm giving this 1988 classic a spin: 'If I Should Fall From Grace With God' by The Pogues.

I think this is Nymphula nitidulata, Beautiful China-mark moth, on a reed leaf at Wicken Fen, National Trust nature reserve today. Phone app suggests family Crambidae & search of iRecord shows someone more into moths than I am has a similar photo from same place. #TeamMoth

A close-up photo of a white moth, with brownish markings in an attractive pattern on its wings, resting in sunshine on a green leaf.

Thanks for the info. We have emailed Oliver who also confirmed our ID and we entered record on iRecord. It did look as if it was going to pupate on that cane and collect it for you this morning. But no sign 😞😞

Indeed. Some recently created brownfield land/verges near to my house might be the source, as it’s covered in trefoils and various other wildflowers. Which reminds me, I have some iRecord data for this site still to input 🤦‍♂️

So you have 😄😄👍 I think I might need to give you some more details on some Grapholite tenebrosana records of mine. I forgot to add some notes on them in iRecord.

I've caught up with VC39 Staffordshire moths iRecord verifications for 2024. Just a few that need a tad more scrutiny. 🧐🔬
