Bring back the Followers of Palawa and their dedication to check the power of the Jedi as a counterpoint to the supposed unallowed good of the Jedi! Do something with the Jensaarai or the Sorcerers of Tund like the exploration they've done with the Witches of Dathomir! Come the fuck on!
If you want to get real deep into the lore about it, and I’m talking pre-Disney, this was the case with the Jensaarai, who were caught between the Jedi and the Sith and whose neutrality neither group recognized. We could also point to the madters of teras kazi who were similarly caught.
