I know you’re not supposed to impulse buy art supplies but some of my favorite things have been impulse buys… Kuratake Bimoji Fude brush pens! Grabbed a small and a large. $3 USD each. LOOK AT THE LINE VARIATION! They are so good! $3 won’t even get coffee anymore, a lot of times.

I tested Isaro watercolor (vertical stripes lower left), Kuratake Gansai (horizontal stripes) Van Gogh metallics (not shown) and Caran d’Ache cake gouache (yellow circle, orange swoop). They all performed well. Anything else you want me to try on this paper? I have the lower right side open.

However, the paint is Van Gogh, which doesn't tend to be super well-behaved on non-cotton papers. I will give my indestructible Kuratake Gansai and Isaro watercolors a shot as well to see if it handles them better. Also, a dab of gouache. Let's really test this sucker!

Not ideal to paint on, but this IS a testament as to HOW GOOD Kuratake watercolours are. Still highly vibrant & blend super well even on the crappiest thin paper 🤣I know I said I'd try & do digital again but sensory issues... I can't stand the clacking & the cold feeling screen of a tablet

I got a nice little Kuratake mini set to take with me to France. I’m excited to use it. There’s a lovely spot on their front porch that’s calling my name. I can paint and use Merlin on the Europe setting to id the birds in the yard.
